Tango
The silk fabric was made in Tango, an area near Kyoto in Japan where my father comes from.
It is used for crafting traditional kimonos.
A rose pattern was woven into it and the fabric was then dyed with rosehip extract.
The batik patterns represent stylised DNA.
How do I know which parts of me are the way they are through heredity?
When I was a child, I spent my summer holidays in Tango.
There, during the week, I could hear the rhythmic sound of the neighbour’s looms from morning till night.
